Force Karate

Why do I have to wear a karate suit that looks like a kimono? It’s heavy.?
Wouldn’t I have better movement, and more speed if they didn’t force us to wear the karate outfit. I would prefer to train in a pair of short and sleeveless shirt.
Switch to Muay Thai, they only wear shorts.
