I have a restaurant, do I need a permit for a street sign?

I am going to start serving breakfast daily at my family restaurant, the problem is there isn't much foot traffic in the area, its right off a busy street, Ive seen other places put signs down the block , I am wondering what kind of permit you need for this? I'm pretty sure i'd need permission from the business owner on the corner too.

The first place to go is City Hall and ask for a print-out on the Ciry ordinances regarding signage. You will be limited by size and type and duration and will have to purchase a permit most likely.
