How do you clean/disinfect a wooden train whistle?

I just came about a used wooden train whistle. Before giving it to my son, I would like to clean it. Anyone know the best and safest way to do this?

Wearing a rubber glove, dunk it in a bleach solution for a minute, then rinse it, shake it out, and let it dry completely.
